Tony,
Thanks for the heads up on the film and book. (I missed any mention of it previously) It does seem to parallel my most recent experience though. While working as a music minister I approached the local campus minister, who attended my church, about a service for HS/young college that asked many of the tough questions that our local church never broached. Interestingly enough, her response was that these kids just were not ready for the tough questions. They were evidently reflecting the very orthodox religious views of their family and home church life. As a side note, the students found the idea of a praise service pretty lame.

The film sounds very interesting. Is it all that shocking, though, that kids' religiosity is shaped by their parents? I think "spiritual, not religious" might better describe folks in their early-to-mid 20's and 30's, who have left home and begun to experience culture shock and worldview expansion in university.

Tony, I just noticed this as well on the public use portion of his data set. Looked great.

I am seriously considering using his dataset for my dissertation at the U of M.
